Trampolining
Trampolining has been an Olympic sport since the 2000 games. It was developed back in the 1930s by George Nissen as a training tool for athletes who perform acrobatic moves such as gymnasts and divers.
Competitive trampolining routines consist of 10 consecutive 'moves'. A 'move' can be defined as a single jump on the trampoline, the performance of a of skill while in the air (such as holding a body shape, somersaulting and/or twisting) and then finishing in a controlled landing (ready to take off again into the next move).
As a beginner you will first learn how to bounce in a controlled manner and how to stop or 'kill' your bounce. Then you will be taught the basic skills of a tuck, pike and straddle jump before moving on to learn the different landing techniques of seat, back and front drop.
Once your confidence grows you will progress onto learning how to perform a front and then back somersault which once mastered can be advanced by being performed in various body shapes (piked or straight) and then adding in twists!
