FAQs

Is trampolining dangerous?

As with all sports there are risks involved with trampolining but it is far from being an 'extreme sport' where injuries are commonplace. Most accidents involving trampolining actually occur at home with children who are untrained bouncing unsupervised in less than ideal conditions.

Competitive trampoline clubs are a much safer way to enjoy the sport. We have the proper safety equipment like floor and end mats, there are always at least two 'spotters' watching whenever anyone is on a trampoline and we have trained coaches supervising the athletes at all times.

Is it suitable for people who are afraid of heights?

While it might seem counterintuitive a fear of heights is not necessarily a blocker to trying out trampolining. Firstly you will start off with very small bounces, just a couple of inches off the trampoline bed, which is no different from just jumping on the ground. Generally people find that as they gain confidence bouncing and start to feel in control then their fear goes away. The only way to be certain of course is to have a go!

Do you need insurance?

All club members must join the British Gymnastics Association which includes insurance for the athletes.

What clothing or equipment do I need to bring?

As long as you are wearing appropriate clothing then no other equipment is needed. Clothing must not be too loose (so no hoodies or belts) and must have no zips. Tracksuit bottoms, a t-shirt and socks are fine. No jewelry can be worn while on the trampoline and any long hair should be tied up to avoid it getting caught in the springs!
